Under 12s Division C

Hamlet Court 1 – 3 Ekco Whitecaps

This was likely to be a difficult game as we only had 10 boys available.  The boys started brightly and Talent had a shot go just wide almost from the kick-off.
Both sides were evenly matched for the first 10 minutes with the Ekco defence playing well breaking up all of Hamlet’s attacks.
Ekco then started to attack well with Talent hitting the side netting and Ben D seeing a good free kick pushed out for a corner.  After 20 minutes an excellent run by Ben D not giving up on a through ball brought a shot that their goalkeeper could only push out to Billy who scored a good goal.
3 minutes later a cross from Ben D was deflected in by a Hamlet player and the score was 2-0.  The rest of the half brought more chances, a good pass through from George forced a save from Billy’s shot by the goalkeeper.  In the last minute of the half Ben D had a shot just wide and George had a shot that the keeper saved.
The perfect start to the second half came when after 29 seconds a sweeping passing move from Nathan to Billy to Ben D allowed Ben to score.  Ekco had most of the play for most of the second half with everyone playing superbly.  After 24 minutes a break by Hamlet saw them score a consolation goal.
With only 10 players everybody played a full part in a well deserved victory.  Martin would have needed 10 Man of the Match trophies to make a fair decision this week.  Well done boys.

Under 12s Division C

Ekco Whitecaps 1 – 2 Kingdown Rangers

This week the boys started well and put Kingdown under pressure from the kick off.  After only 1 minute Josh K shot wide after a good ball from Ben D found him.  After 10 minutes the game became fairly even with both midfields playing well.  Kingdown broke and had a shot go just wide.  Both sides had chances, a scramble in the Ekco goalmouth ended in a Kingdown corner and they had another shot go wide.  There was some good defending at the back by Ekco and Daniel was solid in goal.  Talent was involved in some good moves on the wing.  A great ball from Josh K was shot wide by Talent.  A shot from Talent after a pass through from Nathan was saved by the Kingdown goalkeeper.
In the 29th minute a perfect free kick by Ben D from just inside his own half was put into the Kingdown area and fell to Billy who scored. 
Not a good start by Ekco in the second half and after 1 minute Kingdown were level when a ball through was not cleared.  Ekco were under pressure and a long throw was well cleared by Ben D.  A shot from Kingdown was pushed out by Daniel and unfortunately the cross from the corner led to a goal.  Three substitutions were made after 10 minutes Josh N, Almonzo and George replacing Josh K, Nathan and James.  Josh N made a clearance off the line from a Kingdown shot.
Ekco struggled to contain Kingdown as the half went on and Daniel was called into action regularly and made some good stops.  Ekco had some breaks and forced some corners but were unable to score the equaliser and were always vulnerable to counter attacks by Kingwood.
A bit of a game of two halves today as the boys more than matched Kingdown in the first half but were caught by 2 goals in 3 minutes at the start of the second half.
Daniel was the deserved Man of the Match as he made some good saves especially in the second half.

Under 12s Division C

Ekco Whitecaps 2 – 2 Leigh Rockets

The first game of the new season, Ekco started the first half playing uphill into a stiff breeze.  Ekco started slowly and after 3 minutes were a goal down, after a good save by Daniel the ball fell to a Rockets player who scored. 
Leigh Rockets were the more lively team at this time but as the first half went on Ekco started to exert some pressure and a good ball through to Josh L from Ben D saw the shot go just wide. Another chance to Josh L went just wide and a good ball through from James to Billy forced a corner.
After 15 minutes Josh L was injured and was replaced by George. Jake, Ben E and James were solid at the back and needed to be as Rockets continued to be lively on the break with some quick attacks.
Another good ball from Ben to Talent ended in a free kick being cleared by Leigh Rockets.  The end of the first half saw the Rockets force 2 successive corners which were cleared.
Josh N replaced James for the start of the second half and once again Ekco started slowly and again after 3 minutes went 2 down after a quick break by Leigh Rockets. Almost immediately Billy had a good shot parried by the goalkeeper and the ball ended up in the net. Josh L replaced Nathan.  Ekco were livelier now and a cross from Josh K allowed talent to score.
Ekco were now attacking frequently and were unlucky not to take the lead.  Josh N had a shot from outside the penalty area which went over.  Ben D had a good shot that missed narrowly.
The latter part of the second half was all Ekco as they continued to attack but could not force the winning goal.
To come back from 2-0 down was a good effort by the boys, but for the slow start in both halves the result could have been different.

Under 12s Division C

Leigh Ramblers B 0 – 7 Ekco Whitecaps

A bright, breezy day and for the first 5 minutes Leigh Ramblers were lively and attacked Ekco and Daniel was called into action several times on the edge of his area..  After that Ekco got into the game and after 5 minutes a good ball from Nathan to Billy and on to Talent saw Ekco’s first shot.
A break by Leigh Ramblers ended in a shot wide.  A free kick by Ben D saw a shot from Billy cleared off the line and a follow up shot by Josh L well saved by their keeper.  Another free kick by Ben D was pushed out for a corner.  Each break by Leigh Ramblers was well defended by Jake, Ben E, Taylor and James with Daniel covering well in goal.
Josh K had a shot that went just wide and a shot by Billy was saved by their goalkeeper at the foot of his post.  A corner from Talent fell to Josh K who scored.  A break by Ben D brought out their keeper who made an excellent save.  In the second part of the half Ekco had good pressure and a through ball from Ben D saw Billy hit the side netting.  To end the half an excellent pass through from Ben D let Josh L take the ball on and score a good goal.
Three substitutes were made at half time. Early in the second half a shot from Josh L was blocked by their keeper and Talent followed in to score.  A quick break by Leigh Ramblers was stopped by a good tackle by Jake. 
A shot by Ben D from the edge of the penalty area brought the 4th goal.  Shortly after that the ball broke to Billy who took it on, shot and scored.  The second half was almost all Ekco and a shot from outside the area by George went in for the 6th goal.
To finish off the scoring Talent made a good break, shot and scored.
This was a good performance by the boys.  It was also a good effort by Leigh Ramblers who kept going despite only having a squad of 11 on the day.
