Ekco Whitecaps v Ashingdon Boys

25th November 2007

Ecko won the toss and played uphill and took the lead 12mins into the game when Kieran latched on from a cross by Josh and volleyed the ball home.

Ashingdon fought back well and made the score 1-1 10 mins before the half time whistle.

Second half and Ekco looked livelier and went 2-1 up when a four man move was finished off with Ben volleying the ball in from 10 yards.

We controlled the game from then on and went 3-1 up when Josh’s corner found Bens head.

Liam scored the best goal of the game after a good build up play which he finished off with a cracking left foot strike from outside the box.

Once again well done lads.

Ekco Whitecaps v Hadleigh Town

18th November 2007

Ecko played this game at home on a very cold and windy afternoon, we won the toss and decided to kick off up hill against the wind, knowing it would be hard but felt that it would benefit us in the second half with the wind behind.

Went 1-0 down after 10 mins but came back well and scored from a good shot by Ben.  had a few more chances but the ball did not see the back of the net. At the half time whistle  it was 1-1.

Second half we had the wind behind us and managed to get another goal from a free kick on the edge of the six yard box, the boys done a clever little pass for Mitchell to slide the ball in.  Ben then went and hit the cross bar with a good shot but Hadleigh managed to pull a goal back to draw level.

From a quick throw in from Josh Ben knocked it on to Liam who smashed the ball in with his right foot from outside the box (left footed player)

Final Score 3-2 Well done boys!

Great Wakering Colts V Ekco Whitecaps

4th October 2007

The sun was out this Sunday morning and we were expecting a hard game.  Ecko had a couple of early chances to score, then we went 1-0 up when James got a good header to knock on to Ben who lobbed the goal keeper from a narrow angle.

Both sides had half chances, just before half time Wakering had a good opportunity to score but for a great tackle from Sam R.

The second half we stepped up the pace and went 2-0 up when Mitchell chipped the goalie from just inside the box.  Ekco then had two goals rules out, one which was off side and the other that was clearly over the line (although the ref disagreed).

With 20 minutes to go we brought on Elliot to play up front and within 5 minutes he banged in our third goal.  We had a few more chances later on but the final result stayed at 3-0 to Ekco.  Well done to all 15 players.

U13 League Cup 1st Round

Ecko Whitecaps  14  Berry Boys  0

The match on paper given the two-division difference between the teams should have been a foregone conclusion, and the final result confirmed this.  However it was not as easy in the first half as the result suggest, Berry Boys without a substitute went down to 10 players after only 5 minutes.  Within 4 minutes after that Ecko scored their first goal with a low drive in the corner of the net, this was quickly followed by a second two minutes later, when Perry was brought down in the area, and he stepped up to take the penalty himself.

Despite being down to 10 players the Berry defence was outstanding and had restricted Ecko to a number of long range shots which were continually going wide.  Berry did mount an attack and managed to force a corner after an interception by Ecko player Lewis.  The clearance resulted in a charge towards the Berry goal and number 3 was scored, with just 8 minutes of the first half left. Berry were further reduced by another player after he had suffered from heading on the ball, but he was later to return on the pitch. This again was quickly followed by goal 4 and just before half time a brilliant piece of team play splaying the ball from one side of the pitch to the other resulted in the ball being played across the goal area only for it to take a wicked deflection and go in off a defender to make it 5 – 0 at half time.

The second half was very much a one-way affair and Ecko could have played without a goalkeeper. It took Echo just 5 minutes to increase their lead to 6–0, shortly after that Berry Boys keeper had to go off injured, and resulted in them going down to 9 players.  The sustained attacks by Ecko lead to a goal going in almost every two minutes and it was soon 11–0, but to their credit the Berry players never gave up and were still prepared to tackle and try to mount attacks.  It was from one of these that another one of their players went off after falling badly in a tackle.  As you can imagine was only going in one direction now and there followed two great goals, one was from some outstanding play out to the far left hand side of the pitch which resulted in an excellent cross into the penalty area where Sam ???? was there to score with a diving header.  From kick off Ecko won the ball, and resulted in the best goal of the game, the ball was passed out again to the left where Josh  ???? took the ball forward and  let leash a 20 yard shot, which went smashing into the top right hand side of the goal, any professional player would be proud to score one like that!  The final goal of the game came from a dipping shot from Thomas, which the keeper had no chance to save.  Despite being 14 – 0 Ecko were still looking to increase their tally and had saw a number of chances go wide.
